In other news, West Bank Rabbi living on illegal settlement denies the right of women to stand in community elections
Setting aside the fact that Rabbi Elyakim Levanon is living on an illegal settlement in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, he, and all other settlers are subject to Israeli civil law.

Israeli troops fire tear gas and concussion grenades at a peaceful Mass held by residents of Beit Sahour city, southern West Bank. Residents from Beit Sahour along with international supporters gathered at the evacuated military base of Ush Grhab east of the city. People held banners demanding the halt of the Israeli renewed work at the site and called for the end of settlement activity around their city.

We blogged the photo above, “Jewish settler throws wine at Palestinian woman”, last year. The photographer Rina Castelnuovo has been awarded 3rd prize in the General News - Singles category.
Across the WFP awards no other subject makes more appearances than Israel–Palestine:

Palestinians and Israeli dissenters are getting together to fight Israel’s plan to build another section of the separation wall in the occupied West Bank. According to environmentalists, the wall will stop water flow to the natural springs and thus threatens to dry out much of the Palestinian land. They also see the wall - illegal under international law - as a part of long-term Israeli policy to take more and more Palestinian land in the West Bank. But the Israeli government says their separation wall is for security reasons, in order to stop Palestinians carrying out attacks in Israel.
Tragic event with pathetic aftermath, a manifestation of the years of trauma and fear on both sides.
Violence erupted in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday when a Palestinian man entered a petrol station at the Jewish settlement of Kiryat Arba in the occupied West Bank and stabbed two settlers.
But that was not the end of the story. According to the Israeli army, the Palestinian was then shot by a soldier, after which a car, apparently driven by a settler, ran over the wounded Palestinian, twice, with Israeli soldiers all around.
As events like the dispossession in East Jerusalem continue, what can we expect?

… & terrifying to Israel when put in the hands & minds of Palestinians.
On October 28th Bethlehem University student Berlanty Azzam, 21, was handcuffed, blindfolded and forcibly expelled — the sixth person in 10 days — to the Gaza Strip by Israeli troops just two months before she was due to graduate.
Gisha has been tracking Berlanty’s detention, expulsion and hearings, their reports include this interesting obscene fact:
[Berlanty] is one of an estimated 25,000 people, including those who have been living in the West Bank for decades, in danger of being forcibly removed to Gaza, just because their addresses are registered there. Israel controls the Palestinian Population Registry and since 2000 has not permitted address changes from Gaza to the West Bank.
The US has expressed ‘concern’ and in the UK YOU can sign an e-petition directed at Number 10:
“We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to request the Israeli government to allow Ms Berlanty Azzam to return to Bethlehem to complete her studies.” — SIGN HERE before Dec 2…
