Galloway banned from Canada
Viva Palestina! organiser and MP George Galloway vows to fight what he calls the “idiotic ruling”. He was to give a speech to Toronto’s Stop the War Coalition.
The Canadian authorities claim the ban is on grounds of national security, but it’s still unclear if the ban is because of his views on Afghanistan, Hamas or Iraq. Declared “inadmissible” under the country’s immigration act, designed to protect Canadians from anyone who funds, supports, or engages in terrorism or might want to ‘pee on our carpet’.
The ban came after an open letter of protest from Canada’s Jewish Defence League*, Channel 4 News gave Galloway and Meir Weinsten an opportunity to debate the issue:
Ironically the ban comes in the same week that an actual war criminal was allowed to visit Canada with impunity — despite a similar open letter protest from a group of lawyers.
Well, at least some got to protest using our prefered technique.
